Congratulations to Steve and Connie.

Connie and Steve welcomed into their lives on 9 September 2018 a new baby boy named Leo. We at MIL are very excited and happy to see this new chapter in Connie and Steve’s lives commence and that Connie and Leo are both well. We are told that baby Leo is quite a handful during the day (but loves to sleep at night) and as you can see Steve is definitely a proud father! Leo must be a very good baby as Steve is currently working on your claims harder than ever.

Changes have recently been made to the Transport Accident Act 1986.

The main changes are as follows:

  1. If a bicycle rider collides with a stationary motor vehicle and suffers injury they will now be about to claim benefits from the TAC. Previously, injured bicycle riders could only claim if there were travelling to or from work or if they collided with an open car door. This change applies to bicycle riders injured on or after 9 July 2014.

  2. The TAC will now provide a loss of wages benefit to parents who can’t work because their child is in hospital as a result of a transport accident.

  3. Previously the meaning of “immediate family members” did not include grandparents of an injured person. This meant that grandparents could not access travel (to visit a grandchild in hospital), accommodation and family counselling benefits which were available to other family members of an injured person. Grandparents are now also able to access these benefits if their grandchild was injured after 26 September 2018.

  4. if a person dies as a result of a transport accident and left children under the age of 25 years who were dependent upon their income but completing an apprenticeship: those children are now allowed to make a dependency claim similar to students under 25 years of age. This only applies to accidents on or after 26 September 2018.

Jordan’s wedding

Jordi and Ketut.jpg

In August 2018, Rebecca, Kathy and Tulin had the wonderful opportunity to see Jordan married to her new husband Ketut in Bali. We were privileged to spend a couple of days at Ketut’s lovely Balinese home celebrating their marriage. It was a time of colour, great food and wonderful people. Congratulations Jordi and Ketut.
